Fast Start Fuels a Top-10% Marathon Finish Jp Glynn finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:46:10, placing 202nd overall and 170th among men in a field of 3,305. His opening miles were the highlight: from mile 1 through mile 11, he covered the stretch at roughly a 6:50 per mile pace, holding top-40 overall positions along the way before the back half of the course brought a natural fade in pace. That early rhythm came at Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, a demanding backdrop for sustained sub-7:00 miles. The course's second half, out past Boulder Reservoir and through Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, saw his mile splits settle into the 9:3010:20 range. Given the strength of that first-half pace, Glynn has room to experiment with a more even pacing strategy in future races to see how it affects his finishing time.
