Fast Middle Miles Give Way to a Tough Final 10K Aruku Senoo covered the marathon in 4:14:02, an overall pace of 9:41 per mile. He opened near 9:03 per mile, then sharpened steadily through the early-to-middle miles, dropping under 8:30 by mile 10 and holding that tempo deep into the second half. From mile 18 on, the pace slid past 10:00 and eventually into the 12- and 13-minute range over the closing miles, pulling his overall average up in the final stretch. His standout stretch ran from mile 4 through mile 11, seven-plus miles held between 7:36 and 8:40 per mile, anchored by a 7:36 split at mile 11 his fastest mile of the day. That effort came at Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet, before the late fade carried him on to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
