Fast Out, Fighting Through the Late Miles Merceydez Patton finished the marathon in 4:23:24, an average pace of 10:03 per mile over 26.2 miles. Her race opened strong, holding between 7:54 and 8:37 per mile through the first 17 miles. The back half slowed considerably, with several miles between 21 and 24 falling into the 12-to-16-minute range, before she closed with an 11:10 mile into the finish. The course carries runners past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, which sits at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Patton moved through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5 during the stretch where her pace slowed most, before finding another gear to bring it home.
