Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Gritty Finish Sam Sherry completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:27:07. He passed through the first 20 miles in roughly 9:55 per mile, holding a remarkably consistent rhythm from mile 1 through mile 17, each split landing between 9:32 and 10:03. That steadiness marked the strongest stretch of his race, with barely any variance across 17 miles. The final 10K brought a natural fade, as pace eased into the 11:00-12:00 range through miles 21-25, before a strong closing mile back to 9:25 pace. That last surge suggests he had more to give and paced the middle miles with some conservatism worth noting for next time. The marathon finishes on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a rewarding cap to a race run at altitude above 5,000 feet.
