Steady Early Pace Powers Podium Finish in Marathon Field Aj Groth finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:57:21, placing third in the nonbinary division and third among nonbinary finishers overall. Groth's race unfolded in two distinct halves. Through the first 12 miles, Groth held a tight, efficient rhythm, running between 7:39 and 8:57 per mile and reaching the halfway point near an 8:16 elapsed pace. The strongest stretch came from mile 1 to mile 4, where Groth covered the distance at roughly an 8:03 pace, the fastest sustained running of the day. After mile 18, the pace eased into the 9:3010:44 range per mile as fatigue set in over the closing miles, a natural adjustment given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet. Even with that late softening, Groth's disciplined opening miles secured a strong overall time and a podium spot in the division.
