Strong Early Pace Fades Late But Holds On for a Solid Marathon Finish Francisco Suarez finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:54:40, a 8:57 min/mile average. He built an early rhythm around 8:00-8:10 min/mile through the first three miles, then found his best rhythm from miles 4 through 11, dropping as low as 7:23 during mile 11 and holding sub-8:00 pace for a long stretch of the middle miles. That effort held into the mid-teens before pace eased through the second half, with the final six miles slipping into the 10:30-12:30 range as fatigue set in, before a final push brought him home. Running a marathon at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Suarez's steady middle miles stand out as the strongest section of his race, a solid platform that carried him through the demanding closing miles into downtown Boulder's Pearl Street Mall finish.
