Strong Front Half Fades Late in Marathon Debut Dane Vandenhoek finished the marathon in 4:30:01. His first 11 miles were the clear highlight, clicking off at roughly 8:18 per mile through 11 miles, a pace that would have carried him well under four hours had it held. From mile 12 onward the pace eased steadily, settling into the 11-13 minute range for long stretches before a final push brought him home at an overall 10:18 per mile average. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop for that early rhythm. Vandenhoek passed the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5 in the heart of his late-race slowdown, with miles 22-23 running close to 13:00 pace before he trimmed time off in the final two miles toward the Pearl Street Mall finish.
