Steady Early Miles Give Way to a Tougher Final Stretch Holden Foster completed the marathon in 4:37:47, an elapsed pace of 10:36 per mile. Foster held remarkably consistent pacing through the first 20 miles, settling into a rhythm between 10:12 and 10:20 per mile for long stretches of the race. Miles 10 and 11 stood out as a strong segment, dropping to a 9:28 average pace across those two miles, the fastest sustained running of the day. The final 6 miles told a different story, with pace easing from 10:20 to 10:36 as miles 22 through 25 each slowed past 11:45, before a solid closing mile brought him home. The race finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting cap to a long effort at altitude above 5,000 feet.
