Nearly 18 Minutes Faster: A Big Step Forward in the Marathon Ceasar Sanchez, 26, of Denver, finished this marathon in 4:10:10, a marked improvement over his 4:27:56 from the 2024 Boulderthon marathon a gain of nearly 18 minutes and a jump from 517th to 516th overall out of a much larger field. His pacing showed a clear arc: an opening mile at 10:04 gave way to a strong middle stretch in the 9:009:30 range, dipping briefly before rebounding. Miles 16 through 20 were his most consistent, holding 8:589:00 pace across several miles and pulling his cumulative average down to 9:28 min/mile his best sustained running of the day. He held on well over the closing miles, finishing with an overall pace of 9:32 min/mile. Given Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet, that kind of mid-race surge speaks well of his conditioning and pacing discipline.
