Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Kaz Kiguchi #11115 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Strong Early Pace Fades Late but Finishes Strong on Pearl Street Kaz Kiguchi covered the marathon in 4:11:15. Through the first 15 miles, he held a remarkably steady rhythm, running between 7:38 and 8:40 per mile and reaching the halfway point near an 8-minute-mile pace. That opening stretch stands out as the strongest of the race, built on consistent, controlled effort mile after mile. The second half told a different story, with pace slipping steadily from mile 16 onward, dropping into the 10- and 11-minute range by mile 20 and stretching further past mile 22. Miles 24 and 25 were the toughest of the day, but Kiguchi rallied over the final mile, closing several minutes faster than his mile 25 split. He crossed the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting cap to a race run at over 5,000 feet of altitude.
