Steady Pace Through 18 Miles Fuels Age-Group Win Kevin Pilarski finished the marathon in 3:38:08, placing 151st overall and 129th among men in a field of 3,305 good enough for first in the men's 60-64 division. Pilarski's race stayed remarkably even for three-quarters of the distance: from mile 1 through mile 18, his mile splits held in a tight band between 7:22 and 8:17, keeping his cumulative pace locked near 7:47-7:50 per mile at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet. That control gave him a cushion for the closing miles, where splits eased into the 9:30-10:39 range from mile 19 to 24 before he tightened back up over the final two miles to close out the marathon on the Pearl Street Mall.
