Strong Start Fades Into a Determined Finish Casey Amori completed the marathon in 3:53:47. Through halfway, pace held tight in the 7:20s, but the back half told a different story miles 18 through 23 slipped into the 9- to 13-minute range before steadying again over the closing miles to reach the line. The first 17 miles were the highlight: a sustained stretch near 7:25 per mile that built a strong cushion before the second half's toll. That early rhythm carried him through Boulder's thin air above 5,000 feet, and he closed it out with a finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
