Wilsky's race unfolded in two distinct phases: a steady middle stretch through miles 9-17 where he held sub-9:10 pace, including a strong three-mile run from miles 15 to 17 averaging under 9:00 per mile, followed by a tougher final six miles as his per-mile splits eased into the 11-minute range before a rebound to 10:30 over the last mile into downtown Boulder. That late stretch carried him past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, a course feature runners pass late in the marathon. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, his ability to hold pace through the race's midsection stands out.
