Strong Front Half Carries Marathon Debut Effort Home Jemil Kassahun finished the marathon in 3:55:34, placing 317th overall and 253rd among men out of the field of 3,305. Kassahun ran his fastest 5K of the race between miles 4 and 11, holding a pace between 7:24 and 8:18 per mile through that stretch. His cumulative pace tightened steadily through the mid-race, dipping to 8:01 min/mile by mile 11 before easing gradually over the back half. The final 10K was where the effort cost the most, with per-mile splits climbing past 10:00 and 12:00 in the closing miles before he steadied to the finish. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the early pace through the middle miles stands out as the strongest portion of the effort.
