Steady Marathon Pacing Capped by a Late-Race Comeback Mile Nolan Gammons finished the marathon in 4:12:38, averaging 9:38 per mile. His pace held remarkably steady through the race's midsection, hovering in the 9:30s from mile 5 through mile 20, before a rougher patch between miles 21 and 25 pushed his splits into the 10:1510:47 range. He responded well, closing with a 9:29 final mile his fastest since the double-digit stretch to bring the race home strong. The standout stretch came at miles 10 and 11, where he clocked 9:13 and 8:47, the fastest sustained running of his day and a clear high point in an otherwise consistent effort. That surge came along the marathon's route past Boulder Reservoir and the county backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, a course run at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
