Steady Early Miles Power a Solid Marathon Finish Lindsay Rand, 21, of Boulder, finished the marathon in 4:39:26, an overall elapsed pace of 10:39 per mile. Her race built steadily off a strong start: the first nine miles clicked by between 9:40 and 10:03 each, holding her cumulative pace under 9:52 through mile nine. From there, the pace gradually eased mile by mile, settling into the 11:0012:00 range through the second half before finishing at 10:39 overall. That opening nine-mile stretch stands as the highlight of the day, the fastest sustained running of the race and the foundation for her final time. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, Rand completed the distance at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
