Strong Early Pace Gives Way to a Tough Final Stretch Jake Fogle finished the marathon in 4:29:14. He was efficient early, covering the first ten miles in roughly 83 minutes, holding an 8:18 pace, before continuing to build through mile 11 at a 7:38 clip his fastest mile of the day. Splits stayed in the 8:158:40 range through mile 18, keeping cumulative pace under 8:40 for most of the race. The final 10K told a different story: pace slipped past 17 minutes per mile around miles 2123 before settling back near 11:20 for the last three miles into the finish. Fogle's race took him along Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, all at over 5,000 feet of elevation a demanding setting for the steady effort he put together over the first two-thirds of the course.
