Fast Start Fuels Strong Finish Amid Late-Race Fade Derek Chandler finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:27:41, placing 92nd overall and 82nd among men out of a field of 3,305. Chandler opened aggressively, covering the first six miles in under 6:52 per mile, his fastest sustained stretch of the day. From there, his pace eased steadily through the middle miles, settling around 7:20-7:30 per mile by mile 20. The final stretch proved tougher, with mile 22 through mile 25 slowing into the 9:47-10:22 range a span that includes the course's Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5 before he closed with a stronger mile 26 at 8:33. Given the early pace he banked, easing the opening miles slightly could help preserve more strength for the closing stretch in future races at altitude.
