Strong Early Pace Fuels a Top-10% Marathon Finish Orona crossed the marathon line in 3:54:58, placing 307th overall and 2nd in the non-binary division out of a field of 3,305 at the 2026 Boulderthon. The race unfolded in two distinct halves. Through the first 16 miles, Orona held a remarkably steady sub-8:00/mile pace, reaching the midpoint in just under 2:08 and building a strong cushion. That opening stretch stood out as the clear highlight of the day. The second half told a different story, with mile splits climbing into the 10- and 11-minute range as fatigue set in, including through the mile 22.5 stretch near the lululemon Power-Up Zone. Even with that late fade, the disciplined startcovering 16 miles at altitude above 5,000 feetcarried Orona to a strong overall result and a runner-up finish in the gender division.
