Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Strong Closing Mile Tomma Brunken finished the marathon in 4:29:53. She held a remarkably consistent pace near 9:25 per mile through the race's first half, moving through 10 miles in 1:34:30 with barely any variance mile to mile. Her standout stretch came early: miles 1 through 10 clicked by within seconds of one another, and mile 11 was her fastest of the day at 8:47. That composure, sustained at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, gave way to a gradual slowdown from mile 18 onward, with several miles drifting into the 11- and 12-minute range. She rallied over the final mile, closing in 9:54 to bring her race home with a strong finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
