Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Cary Gutin #11718 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Fast Middle Miles Anchor a Steady Marathon Finish Cary Gutin completed the marathon in 4:48:46. After an opening mile of 10:27, she settled into her best rhythm of the day, running miles 3 through 9 at roughly a 9:04 pace per mile, a clear high point in an otherwise gradually slowing race. From mile 10 onward, her pace eased into the 10:0014:00 range per mile, with the final mile closing at 12:25 as she made her way into the finish. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop worth noting given the pace she carried through those middle miles. Like every distance in the race, her marathon closed on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting finish after nearly five hours on course.
