Steady Pace Through 20 Miles Before a Late Fade Boris Aulestia finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:15:03, an average pace of 9:44 per mile across the 26.2-mile course. Aulestia ran a remarkably even race through the first two-thirds, holding a 9:01 to 9:17 elapsed pace from mile 12 all the way to mile 20. His strongest stretch came from mile 9 to mile 11, where he clicked off miles at 8:55, 8:52, and a race-best 8:07, pulling his cumulative pace down to 9:01. The closing miles told a different story, as his per-mile splits climbed steadily from 10:13 at mile 21 to a high of 15:07 at mile 24 before settling into the finish. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the mid-race consistency he showed stands out as the highlight of the effort. A strong front-and-middle base like this is worth building from for the next one.
