Steady Early Pace Powers Podium Finish Mark Floisand ran 3:55:52 at the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon, placing 319th overall and 255th among men in a field of 3,305, good for third in the men's 55-59 division. Floisand's race showed real consistency through two-thirds of the course, holding a tight band between 8:15 and 8:34 per mile from mile 1 through mile 19 his most well-executed stretch of the day. The final 10K brought a noticeable shift, with splits sliding into the 10:00-11:04 range through mile 24 as he passed the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, before he tightened back up over the last two miles to close in the 9:45-9:57 range. Racing a marathon at Boulder's altitude, above 5,000 feet, adds context to that overall effort. A stronger hold on that mid-race rhythm into the final 10K could be worth targeting next time.
