Strong Start Fades Before a Determined Closing Kick Joseph Stover completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:39:16, an overall pace of 12:09 per mile. He built an efficient opening, reaching the 6-mile mark in 1:04:46 a 10:47 per mile pace before the effort settled into the 11:30-12:15 range through the middle miles, nudging his cumulative pace past 12 minutes by mile 10. He answered with a strong final mile, closing in 10:52 to bring his cumulative pace back down to 12:09 at the finish. That early pace and closing surge bookended a course that runs out past the Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall a finish Stover reached with one of his race's better miles. Running at Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, adds context to the steady effort across the 13.1 miles.
