Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Hard-Fought Finish Grace Savoca completed the marathon in 4:31:06. She built a remarkably consistent effort through the opening 18 miles, holding between 9:10 and 9:44 per mile and keeping her elapsed pace tight in the 9:109:24 range for that entire stretch. That steadiness marks the standout segment of her race. From mile 19 onward, the pace eased mile by mile, with the final miles slowing well beyond her early rhythm as fatigue set in over the closing stretch to the finish. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds a layer of difficulty to holding pace over 26.2 miles, which makes Savoca's even effort through the first 18 miles stand out. Like every distance in the race, her marathon closed with the finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
