Strong Opening Half Anchors a Steady Marathon Finish Michael Speers completed the Boulderthon Marathon in 4:22:32, an average pace of 10:01 per mile across the 26.2-mile course. Speers ran his first 13 miles in 1:59:40, averaging 9:12 per mile with splits mostly in the 8:459:38 range the strongest stretch of his race. Pace eased through miles 1420, settling near 10:1310:51 per mile, before dipping further to 12:27 and 12:17 around miles 21 and 22, near the course's lululemon Power-Up Zone at mile 22.5. He rallied over the final four miles, tightening back to a 10:0910:52 range before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a course that sits above 5,000 feet of elevation.
