Strong Early Pace Fuels Solid Marathon Finish Sydney Brieher completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:33:27. She opened with sharp control, covering the first five miles in under 40 minutes at roughly a 7:54 min/mile pace, and holding an 8:44 min/mile average through the halfway point. The back half told a different story, as pace eased steadily from a 9-minute range through miles 1418 into the 10-14 minute range over the closing miles, reflecting the steady grind typical of late-marathon miles. Her first 13 miles, banked well under 9:00 min/mile pace, stand as the clear high point of the day. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, Brieher can take confidence from that early rhythm as a building block for future starts at altitude above 5,000 feet.
