Strong Middle Miles Offset a Late-Race Fade Enrique Rodriguez finished the marathon in 3:58:11. He opened briskly, covering the first ten miles near 8:50 cumulative pace, then found his best rhythm from miles 15-17, clicking off 8:06, 7:52 and 7:57 to pull his overall average back toward 8:44. The next stretch cost him ground miles 20-22 slowed into the 10:00-11:00 range before he closed with a strong final mile in 7:57, the fastest full mile of his race. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Rodriguez passed the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5 during his toughest split of the day, then answered with a nine-second-per-mile improvement over the following mile. That rebound, paired with his closing mile, points to solid finishing strength worth building on.
