Steady Pace Through 20 Miles Before a Late Fade Evan Miller finished the marathon in 4:12:38, an average pace of 9:38 per mile, finishing 551st out of the field of 3,305 at this year's Boulderthon. Miller's race showed remarkable consistency through the first 18 miles, holding between 8:40 and 9:38 per mile, with his fastest mile of the race coming at mile 11 in 8:11. Cumulative pace stayed locked near 9:05 per mile from miles 12 through 18. The closing miles told a different story: from mile 21 onward, splits slowed steadily from 10:04 to a final mile of 12:12, pushing his overall pace up to 9:38 by the finish. That stretch passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, a notable marker on a course that finishes on the Pearl Street Mall at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
