Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Determined Closing Stretch Rhea Bhat covered the marathon in 4:26:41, an average of 10:10 per mile. Her first 13 miles were remarkably consistent, holding between 9:09 and 9:25 per mile, before the pace eased gradually through the middle miles and softened further in the closing 10K, with several miles drifting past 11:00 and 12:00 per mile as fatigue set in. That opening 13-mile stretch stands out as the strongest of the day, a tight, controlled effort at elevation over 5,000 feet before the final miles asked more of her. The course carried her out past the Boulder Reservoir and through Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder a fitting stage for closing out a long, demanding effort at altitude.
