Strong Early Pace Fades Late But Finish Holds Firm Alexander Bodnar completed the marathon in 4:15:37, an average pace of 9:45 per mile. His race built steadily through the first half, holding between 8:28 and 8:46 per mile through mile 17 a smooth, disciplined effort at altitude. The middle-to-late miles brought a natural cooling of pace, with mile 23 alone slipping to 14:53, before he rallied over the final mile to close in 10:19, showing a strong final push after the tougher stretch. Running at over 5,000 feet, Bodnar's first 17 miles stand out as the most consistent portion of his day, a solid platform that carried him well past the halfway point before the closing miles tested his legs.
