Strong Early Pace Fades Late in Marathon Debut Jin Kim covered the marathon in 4:22:48. His race opened fast, holding sub-8:00 pace through the first ten miles, with mile 11 the standout at 7:34, his quickest of the day. From mile 13 onward the pace eased steadily, and the final six miles brought the sharpest slowdown, with per-mile splits climbing into the teens as fatigue set in before the finish. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop worth noting given the pace shift over the back half. Kim's race carried him out past Boulder Reservoir and along the county backroads before the finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting close to a race built on a fast start.
