Steady Start Gives Way to a Hard-Earned Finish Simon Alger completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:26:58, holding a consistent 9:359:55 min/mile pace through the first 17 miles before the closing miles slowed toward 11:0012:20 min/mile as fatigue set in over the final 10K. Miles 56 stood out as his strongest full-mile stretch, both clocked at 9:15 min/mile, part of a broader mid-race stretch (miles 1417) that held steady near 9:209:54 pace. The marathon course finishes on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting over 5,000 feet in elevation a demanding setting for the steady effort Alger sustained through the race's midsection before the late fade.
