Steady Start Gives Way to a Gritty Marathon Finish Wesley Stasyszen completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 5:26:56, averaging 12:28 per mile. His race was defined by a strong, consistent first half he passed the 10-mile mark in 1:40:59 (10:05 min/mile pace) and held that rhythm through the halfmarathon point near 2:12. Miles 1 through 13 were the most efficient stretch of his day, with pace holding in the 9:30-10:30 range throughout. The back half told a different story, as elapsed pace slid from 10:10 min/mile at the half to 12:30 min/mile by the finish, with miles 18-25 each landing between 13 and 20 minutes. Given that the marathon course carries runners past Boulder Reservoir and along county backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, and that Boulder itself sits above 5,000 feet, the tougher second half is a natural target for Wesley to build toward next time perhaps with a bit more reserved effort in those opening miles.
