His race built steadily through the middle miles, with cumulative pace tightening from the 7:40s early on down to 7:28 by mile 18 before easing slightly over the closing stretch. His strongest sustained running came between miles 14 and 18, where he covered four miles in roughly 7:17 per mile, pushing well past runners around him and climbing into the race's top 100 overall by that point. The final 10K settled into the 8:20-9:10 per mile range as the pace management from earlier miles was tested, though the overall effort held firm to secure a strong finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
