Steady Early Pace Fuels a Strong Marathon Finish Jesse Grossman completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:35:29. He held remarkably even pacing through the first ten miles, hovering between 9:45 and 10:13 per mile, before easing into the low 10:00s through the middle miles. His strongest mile-plus stretch came from miles 10 through 12, where he covered nearly three miles at a 9:53 average pace, marking the fastest sustained running of his race. The final miles brought a natural slowdown as fatigue accumulated, with pace settling into the 11:30-12:06 range from mile 21 onward. Grossman's marathon route carried him out past Boulder Reservoir and through Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, a course completed at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Around mile 22.5, he would have passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone, arriving there with cumulative pace still under 10:20 per mile despite the tougher closing stretch that followed.
