Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Nicholas Freed #11666 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Fast First Half Fades Into a Determined Finish Nicholas Freed completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:06:33. He went out briskly, holding sub-8:00 pace through the first 11 miles, then settled into a steadier rhythm through the midpoint before the effort caught up with him over the closing miles, with per-mile pace easing into the 10- and 11-minute range from mile 19 onward and a final mile split of 12:05. His strongest stretch came early: miles 1 through 11 clicked off at roughly 7:58 per mile, the fastest sustained running of his day. That opening pace was set at over 5,000 feet of elevation, a notable backdrop for the early speed before the marathon's demands showed up later on. He closed things out on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, capping a race built on a strong foundation.
