Fast Start Anchors a Steady Marathon Effort Bruce Richardson finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:12:25, averaging 9:38 per mile. His race showed a clear shape: a strong opening followed by a steady, gradual easing of pace over the back half. The first six miles were his standout stretch, covering that distance in 49:03 for an 8:10 per mile pace, the fastest sustained running of his day. From there, per-mile splits eased gradually through the middle miles before settling into the 10- to 12-minute range over the final 10K, still carrying him to a solid finish. Richardson's marathon took him through Boulder, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation, before closing out on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder alongside runners from every distance on the course.
