Strong Finish Kick Seals a Top-10% Marathon Dan Bell crossed the line in 3:51:55, good for 269th overall and 220th among men in a field of 3,305. He opened steady, holding 8:20s-8:40s through the first ten miles, then found his best gear with a race-fastest 7:54 at mile 11. The middle-late miles eased into the 9:00-9:40 range before he closed strong, dropping an 8:10 final mile faster than any other mile he ran that day. That closing surge carried him past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, along the course's stretch by Boulder Reservoir, before finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall. The whole effort came at over 5,000 feet of elevation, in a city National Geographic once named the Happiest in America.
