Twelve Minutes Faster, Same Steady Grit Taylor Mccarroll finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:57:25, cutting more than twelve minutes off his 4:09:49 finish at the same race in 2024. That improvement came from a race he ran with far more consistency than before, holding his effort together even as the back half tested his legs. Mccarroll's pace stayed remarkably tight through the first 18 miles, ranging between 8:27 and 8:59 per mile, before drifting into the 9:00s and then the 10:0011:00 range from miles 19 through 23. He rallied over the closing three miles, working back down to a 9:04 pace at the finish. His strongest stretch came from miles 12 to 18, where he held a narrow 8:278:54 band mile after mile a sustained effort at an elevation above 5,000 feet.
