Age-Group Champion Holds Steady Pace to Finish Strong on the Mall Steve Bell won the men's 75+ division in this marathon, topping that age group from the very first mile through the finish in 4:31:21. His mile splits stayed in a tight 9:4510:48 band through the first twenty miles, with cumulative pace drifting gradually from 9:47 to just over 10:15 min/mile a controlled, even effort rather than an early sprint followed by a fade. Miles 2122 brought his only rough patch, ticking up to 11:03 and 11:18, before he rallied. His final mile, covered in 9:50, was his fastest of the back half, closing the race on the Pearl Street Mall with real strength.
