Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Tough Final 10K Juan Lugo finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:32:42, an average pace of 10:24 per mile. That marks his return to Boulderthon after running the 2025 half marathon in 1:39:18 a different distance, but a signal of the range he's building across race lengths. Through the marathon's first 18 miles, Lugo ran a tightly controlled effort, holding between 8:42 and 9:28 per mile and keeping his cumulative pace under 9:05. The back half told a different story, as his mile splits stretched past 14:00 from mile 21 on, pushing his overall pace out to 10:24 by the finish. His fastest mile came at mile 11, a 7:59 split that briefly dropped his cumulative pace to 8:50. That surge arrived just before the course's approach toward Boulder Reservoir, with the toughest miles of the day arriving later, near the lululemon Power-Up Zone at mile 22.5 all run at altitude above 5,000 feet before the finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
