Even Early Pace Gives Way to a Tougher Closing Stretch Alissa Butt completed the Boulderthon Marathon in 4:37:26. Through the first 12 miles, they ran a tightly bunched string of splits between 9:11 and 9:36 per mile, holding that rhythm as cumulative pace hovered right around 9:20 for nearly half the race. From there, the pace eased gradually into the high 9:00s and low 10:00s through mile 20, before a more pronounced slowdown took hold over the final 10K, with per-mile splits climbing into the 12- and 13-minute range by the finish. That opening 12-mile stretch stands as the highlight of the day, a sustained and consistent effort at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet. The later miles carried Butt past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5 before the race wound to its finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
