Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Jack Markson #12888 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Fast Start Fades Into a Hard-Earned Finish Jack Markson completed the Boulderthon Marathon in 3:55:02, placing 309th overall and 246th among men in a field of 3,305. His race opened briskly, holding sub-7:40 pace through the early miles, then gradually eased through the middle miles into the 8:008:30 range before a pronounced late slowdown from mile 19 onward, with several miles drifting past 11:00 and into the 13:00s before a final push brought him home in 8:45 for the last mile. Miles 1 through 4 stood out as his strongest sustained stretch, averaging roughly 7:35 per mile a confident opening given Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet. Maintaining that composure over the closing miles could be a useful focus for future races at altitude.
