Strong Early Pace Fades Late at Boulderthon Jacob Wallace completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:15:12, averaging 9:44 per mile. His most consistent running came early, holding between 8:31 and 9:11 per mile from mile 1 through mile 11 a tight, well-controlled stretch that kept him near a 9:00 pace for over ten miles. From there his pace eased gradually through the middle miles before slipping past 11 minutes per mile over the final five, the steepest portion of the race. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Wallace covered a marathon course that runs out past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall. His pace loosened right around mile 22, near where the lululemon Power-Up Zone sits at approximately mile 22.5, before he worked to bring his rhythm back over the closing miles.
