Steady Early Pace Anchors a Strong Marathon Finish Kasey Ruffer completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:07:39, averaging 9:27 per mile over the 26.2-mile course. Ruffer's race showed a clear two-phase shape: through 18 miles she held a tight, controlled pace between 8:50 and 9:00 per mile, a strong stretch that kept her cumulative pace under 9:00 for most of the race. From mile 19 onward, her per-mile splits eased into the 9:4511:29 range, nudging her overall pace up to 9:27 by the finish. That steady opening stretch, covering nearly 18 miles at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, stands out as the highlight of her day. She closed the race on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, capping a well-paced effort through the early and middle miles.
