Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Christopher Byun #12229 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles

Strong Start Fades Late, Still Finishes Under 2:15 Christopher Byun covered this half marathon in 2:13:32, a bit slower than his 2:08:48 from the 2025 running of this race. His pace through the opening 6 miles was the highlight, clicking off that stretch in 57:37, a 9:36 min/mile average that held firm even as the miles ticked by. From there the pace eased into the 10:00s and touched 11:35 by mile 11, before a modest rally over the final two miles brought him home. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop worth noting given how well the early pace held. The finish on the Pearl Street Mall capped a race where the front half clearly outran the back half a pacing pattern worth revisiting for next time, perhaps by holding a touch more in reserve through those strong opening miles.
