Strong Early Pace Fuels a Steady Marathon Finish Micah Utz finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:21:19. He opened fast, holding 8:048:09 pace through the first six miles, and stayed inside 8:15 pace through mile 11 his strongest sustained stretch of the day. The second half brought a gradual fade, with per-mile splits drifting into the 9- and 10-minute range by mile 20, then slowing further between miles 21 and 24 before he steadied again over the final two miles to close out the race. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop for any effort on this course. The marathon route heads out past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before returning to finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, where Utz completed his race.
