Strong Start Fuels a Top 2% Marathon Finish Carter Kirkpatrick finished the marathon in 3:24:17, placing 69th overall and 61st among men in a field of 3,305 runners in Boulder, CO. Kirkpatrick's race showed a fast, controlled opening: cumulative pace sat near 6:496:58 per mile through mile 8, tightening the field placement to inside the top 50 overall. That opening third was the standout stretch of the day, holding sub-7:00 pace deep into the race before cumulative pace eased to 7:14 by mile 19 and settled near 7:48 by the finish. The late miles, including the stretch past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, saw the split pace loosen into the 9:3010:30 range before he closed with a 7:52 final mile.
