Fast Start Fuels a Top 3% Marathon Finish Samuel Deangelo finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:28:18, placing 94th overall and 84th among men in a field of 3,305. He ran a strong front half, holding sub-6:45 mile pace through mile 10 and staying under 7:00 pace through mile 17 before the back stretch slowed steadily, with mile 20 at 10:21 and mile 22 at 11:02. His fastest mile-plus stretch came early: miles 1 through 10 averaged 6:44 pace, a segment that built the cushion carrying him through the second half. That fade through the closing miles lined up with the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, where his pace had already eased into the 9:30-11:00 range. Given the pattern, working on maintaining mid-race rhythm into the final 10K could be a useful focus for his next marathon at altitude.
